A report on Dunbury School’s pupil conference, by pupils

On the 23rd October the Focus Group, the School Council, teachers and some TAs, governors, parents and vicars, went to the Springfield Hotel to discuss things about the school.

On the 23rd October the Focus Group, the School Council, teachers and some TAs, governors, parents and vicars, went to the Springfield Hotel to discuss things about the school. My thoughts were “I think it’s good for the children to go because then not just the teachers and TAs get to know things about the school, but the children do as well”.

Some of the time we were taken out by Mr Stratta because it was too adulty for children but we got to do some fun stuff like drawing pictures about what helps us learn and what makes it difficult for us to learn.

Then we had a really posh lunch and all the teachers were complaining because we had the best desserts.

Near the end of the day we played a game where we had to say something that we might do in half term. For example ‘Are you going to watch TV?’ and ‘Are you going to X Factor?’ and if someone said ‘Yes’ you would wrap some string around you and  the string would go in different directions so the string would end up like a star.

Right at the end we had a piece of paper and we had to write down some things about what we would change at school. Miss Coward, Miss Carter, Mrs Lappin, Harriet and I thought that the pond in the playground should be changed into a place where we have rainbow and circle time.

Then we all had to go home.

Rory Shafford (Sycamore Class, Year 5)

“I enjoyed the conference on church schools because I learnt more about how we should be learning about the church than I do in normal lessons.
I found it interesting to actually find out what being in a 'church school' really means.
I found it interesting because I could  really concentrate on the subject because we were all talking about the same thing.”

Sophie Coleman (Rowan Class, Year 3)

“After I had been to the School Conference I had lots of ideas about how to help the school be a Church School and an even happier place to learn.”

Sam Hughes (Rowan Class, Year 3)
